Xochimilco is a spectacular city in Mexico known for its vast array of canals and the world renowned Xochimilco water gardens located in the ancient Lake Xochimilco. Located at the southern tip of Mexico City, Xochimilco has resisted the modernization and kept its ancient ways and has been declared a World Heritage. Xochimilco meaning Garden of flowers was given this name by the Aztecs.

History of Xochimilco
It is believed hat the first settlers landed in this area around 240 AD. The Xochimilcas an ancient tribe of Xochimilaco founded the ceremonial center of Cuailama, now known as Santa Cruz Acalpixca. Ancient Hieroglyphs have been discovered in the mountains range of Ajusco-Chichinauhtzin which are depictions of the ancient ceremonies.

Young men dive over jagged cliffs, leaping into the waves below. They use the waves as a cushion when diving into the shallow water below, each jump mus be carefully timed. This group of professional divers leap from heights of 148 ft.

When the sun sets there are spectacular night shows, where divers use fire in their dives to create stunning flaming comments of the cliffs.

The Mayan ruins in Tulum are some of the oldest ruins in Mexico. They are located on the edge of a 39′ cliff overlooking a beautiful crystal clear Caribbean ocean. The original name for this ancient Mayan city is Zama meaning city of dawn. The city is located on the high point of a cliff and is surrounded by a large wall, this was used to protect the city from attacks. The city was once a busy sea port in the 14th century, but according to the Spanish it was abandoned when they arrived in the 15th hundreds.
