This is one place, which has been able to capture the old world charm and yet accommodate the latest facilities and luxuries in its culture. This is probably one of the most popular holiday destinations among tourists from all over the world. People arrive at this picturesque destination so that they can soak up some sun, breathe in the fresh air and relive the magic of Mayan civilization.

Mexico has a lot to offer in terms of recreational facilities and the Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is one stop destination for all the adventure freaks that may be looking forward to re-explore Mother Nature and live in the lap of freshness and nature’s bounties. Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is one destination no individual would like to miss. While on our trip here, we were surprised by the multitude of activities that this place offers. Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park has a number of unique eco-friendly jungle adventures planned for the tourists. It doesn’t matter whether you are a young kid or are a middle-aged individual; there is loads of Mayan adventures and activities, which are waiting to be unearthed.

It was extremely surprising for us to learn that Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is located on one of the most extensive system of underwater caves and caverns, which exist on earth. Although we presumed it to be a routine jungle safari kind of trek, Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park turned out to be an adventure island of sorts which has some of the world’s most exclusive and exceptionally beautiful Cenotes which can be found in the Yucatan Peninsula. Yet another interesting tit bit of information that we gathered was that Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park had actually shot to popularity and suddenly became a well-acknowledged place after it was featured in the highly acclaimed movie “Journey into the Caves” which premiered in 2001.

Since then, the popularity of this place has risen up considerably with several more films being shot here, courtesy its picturesque landscape and breathtaking scenery. Some of the other movies which were shot here include a Hollywood movie “The Cave” which premiered in 2005 and another documentary television series named “Planet Earth” was shot in 2007 by BBC.

Post arriving in Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park, one can choose from the different package tours available. There are different types of guided tours available and tourists have the option of choosing a package which best suits their tastes. We, however, chose to go with the adventure package. After all, what’s the use of arriving in Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park, if one does not participate in all the adventurous activities that this place has to offer?

So, we decided to go ahead with the adventure package, which included several interesting activities, such

Cenote Cavern Diving and Snorkeling at Hidden Worlds
as the sky cycling, rappelling, and zip lines among a host of other activities, which can bring out the adventure streak even almost anyone. Apart from these, there was other regular adventure stuff for us as well, such as snorkeling and cavern diving. While indulging in cavern diving, we got a chance to make some interesting expeditions all over the Yucatan Peninsula, which was definitely worth the effort.

Considering the excellent opportunities that this place has to offer, it was no surprise to learn that this is one of the best attractions, which we could possibly locate along the Riviera Maya. Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is also featured as one of the “Top Ten Sights” in the Yucatan region.

The adventure package taken by us while holidaying at the Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park was thrilling to say the least. This park truly lived up to its name and brought out a hidden world of fun and adventure for us in this quaint world, which is chiefly inhabited by remains of Mayan civilization. It took us an entire day to take part in all the activities. However the best part about this package is that it is designed in such a manner that an individual may be able to take part in the maximum number of activities all through the day without having to waste unnecessary time in commuting from one place to the other in search of the next adventure activity.

Some of the most memorable adventures that we had were on the sky cycle jungle. The SkyCycle jungle experience is combined with the adventurous task of snorkeling in order to yield the most breathtakingly refreshing experience that any individual could ever experience here. The SkyCycle allows an individual to view the spectacular art galleries, which are located on the above while they can easily snorkel through the Riviera Maya and explore the endless gifts of Mother Nature.

Zip line at Mexico\'s Hidden World cenote park
Another interesting adventure activity that we came across, while vacationing here was the tree top zipline. This is one adventure activity that we would like to recommend to each and every individual who is planning to take a break at the Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park. While indulging in this adventure task, we were literally transported from one corner of the jungle to another while being placed in a cable car, which is approximately 600 feet long.

Though the thought of being transported through the entire park while sitting in an open-air cable car scared us to no limits, but the good part was that the assistants there steadily fastened us in the harness, thus eliminating any chance of a possible accident or something. In fact, it would be of no use to explain the memorable experience that we had at Hidden World Cenotes Park in mere words. A person actually needs to experience it himself in order to believe the thrill, adventure, excitement and most importantly, a memorable experience that this place can provide.

Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is a place, which can provide interesting adventurous activities for large groups who are out to spend their vacation here either with their family or selected bunch of friends.

Located at the southern tip of Mexico City, Xochimilco has resisted the modernization and kept its ancient ways and has been declared a World Heritage. Xochimilco meaning Garden of flowers was given this name by the Aztecs.

History of Xochimilco
It is believed hat the first settlers landed in this area around 240 AD. The Xochimilcas an ancient tribe of Xochimilaco founded the ceremonial center of Cuailama, now known as Santa Cruz Acalpixca. Ancient Hieroglyphs have been discovered in the mountains range of Ajusco-Chichinauhtzin which are depictions of the ancient ceremonies.

Xochimilco used the great canals and lakes as a transportation route for business with Mexico City. Xochimilco Lake served as the main transportation route the main cities for the smaller towns to the east. Agriculture was Xochimilco’s main source of income; the goods were primarily sold in Mexico City and supplied most of the food to the surrounding cities.

The Canals have become a hot tourist attraction. The Canals are very lively, and full of vibrant colors, boats (trajineras) and people. The trajineras will tour you through out the canals and even seriante you with live Mexican music. Vendors travel around in canoes with Mexican souvenirs and goods at some great prices as long as you remember to barter a little. You can even hire your own personal floating band!

The Canals are a free place to visit but the boat rides will cost a small fee ranging from 10 pesos a person to 160 paseos per hour for an entire boat (holding up to 12 people). The weekends can become pretty busy so a week day might be your best bit if you enjoy things a little less crowded.

In the tourist sections of the canals you will find floating food and drink boats for a mid day brunch or a nice cold beer.

The boat rides are very relaxing and offer a bit of tranquility after being in Mexico City. There is two docs to ender the cannels, Division de Nortel and the Ecological park of Xochimilco. All thou both provide adequate access to the same amenities The Ecological park of Xochimilo has a cleaner safer feel to it, which is generally preferred my most travelers.

Since the early 1920’s Xochimilco has become a Mexican Tourist attraction with tourism being the cities largest industry.

Chinampa Agriculture

Chinampa – the ancient canals created for the method of agriculture was invented in this area by the ancient Aztec people. Chinampa uses the natural water flow to growChinampa Agriculture crops in shallow rectangular strips that would fill with water and flourish crops. Sadly the majority of the Chinampas have been turned into road ways and many of the fresh water streams are now used to feed the water needs of Mexico City. Due to the substandard current water the fields are more commonly used to grow flowers rather then harvest crops

Festivals – Since the Pre-colonial times Xochimilco has had an annual festival two weeks prior to Easter honoring Xochipilli the goddess of flowers and Maculxochitl the goddess of dance. This festival represented a thanking to the gods and a way to ask for good harvests. The Canales are filled with flower covered boats as they parade through out the farmland canals.

Manny have said this to be one of the most memorable attractions of Mexico City, so be sure to make it a day out of it on your next trip.

They are located on the edge of a 39′ cliff overlooking a beautiful crystal clear Caribbean ocean. The original name for this ancient Mayan city is Zama meaning city of dawn. The city is located on the high point of a cliff and is surrounded by a large wall, this was used to protect the city from attacks. The city was once a busy sea port in the 14th century, but according to the Spanish it was abandoned when they arrived in the 15th hundreds.

On the cliff lyes a small building over looking the cliff, this building is called the Temple of the wind and was used for secret ceremonies. If you take a close look at the building you will see a thick hole in the back wall that looks out over the Caribbean sea, if you look through the the circle form the out side you will see a triangular symbol aligned perfectly over the door. This is believed to have some astronomical symbol, given that they Maya people were very astrological advanced.
They Mayan forests are filled with ancient statues and hidden messages. The Maya civilizations produced many skilled mathematicians, farmers, artists and astronauts.

This particular site in Tulum is a fairly small city compared to some of the other ruin locations, on the other hand it is one of the best reserved coastal ruin site. Tulum’s Mayan Ruins have become a the third most popular historical tourist site, with daily tour buses, there is always a constant stream of visitors to explore the archaeological site.

From the top of the cliff you can take a wooden stair way down to the white sand beaches below. The crystal clear blue water is simply amazing, you will not be able to resist a dive in; Don’t forget your bathing suit!

Temple of the Wind located at the Tulum Mayan Ruins Site

There is a bus ride that will take you to the ruins for a couple dollars or you can walk in your self. The walk is about a mile in, so depending on your fitness level you can get some exercise or take the relaxing route in.

Once you arrive at the ruins you can opt in for the guided tour or explore on your own. At an entrance fee of about six dollars its a definite must on any vacation to the Mayan Rivera.
